Volunteer
Cadet Academy:
Firefighting is the third most dangerous
job in America (right behind offshore
underwater welding and being the President).
Whether paid or volunteer, fire is still
fire --- dangerous. We believe every person
in the Buda Fire Department must be trained
to a very high level. In fact, we believe it
so much that we ask every new member to go
through our Cadet Academy.
 |
Be warned though: The Cadet Academy
is not for just anyone. There is a
textbook, so you got to read. There
are quizzes, so you got to study.
There is fire, so you will sweat.
There is equipment to be cleaned,
policies to learn, ladders to climb,
hose to roll, etc. And, it's a job
you can't do alone --- so you must
be a team player. |
Being a firefighter also means emergency
medical training as well. By the end of
cadet school you will be certified by the
Texas Department of State Health Services as
an Emergency Care Attendant and by the State
Fireman and Fire Marshal's Association as
Basic volunteer firefighter.
Academy starts Monday evening, February
12th.
